Darfur Refugees Trapped in a State of Bare Survival and Little Hope
(CSRwire) Dear Friend:
"A state of bare survival and little hope."
That is how one Global Impact charity describes the bleak existence of the
2.5 million forced from their homes due to the conflict in Darfur. These
unwilling nomads fled burning homes and looted villages, walking miles to
seek the scant protection of refugee camps.
Life is cruel amid the landscape of tents: Starvation and diseases are
rampant, and sanitation is poor. Those who venture outside the camps risk
being beaten, raped or murdered. The faces of those who survive from day
to day are stunning portraits of fear, sadness and loss.
Despite a recent peace agreement, the conflict rages on and refugees
continue to stream into camps in western Sudan and neighboring countries.
Four years into the crisis and with no resolution in sight, the people of
Darfur need your help. Your contribution to the Global
Impact Darfur Crisis Fund will send immediate resources to refugee
camps across Darfur.
A single donation:
- Funds multiple charities—renowned organizations including CARE,
International Rescue Committee, Save the Children and U.S. Fund for
UNICEF.
- Provides basic needs like food, shelter and clean water; immunizes
against the spread of disease.
- Tells millions of men, women and children that they have not been
forgotten.
With your support, the Darfur Crisis Fund offers hope to
those enduring a grim existence. Please
give today.
Sincerely,
Renée Acosta
