Global Impact Welcomes New Member Charities
Women for Women International and William J. Clinton Foundation Join Prestigious Group
(CSRwire) ALEXANDRIA, VA -March 20, 2007- — Global Impact, one of the most
successful and trusted names in international philanthropy, announced
today that it has selected two esteemed organizations—Women for Women
International and the William J. Clinton Foundation—to join its network
of more than 50 premier U.S.-based international charities.
Women for Women
International addresses the unique needs of women in conflict
and post-conflict environments, who may have lost everything and often
have nowhere else to turn. Over the course of a year, women in need embark
on a recovery and rehabilitation journey that takes them from victim to
survivor to active citizen through programs that provide immediate aid in
the short term, and life-skills and job-skills training for the future.
Women for Women International believes that engaging women in rebuilding a
nation’s economic, political and social structures is the most effective
avenue toward creating lasting change and stability within a society.
The William J. Clinton
Foundation (the Foundation) aims to strengthen people's
capacity to meet the challenges of global interdependence through health
security; economic empowerment; leadership development/citizen service;
climate change; and racial, ethnic and religious reconciliation. Among the
Foundation’s programs are the HIV/AIDs Initiative, which endeavors to
make treatment for this disease more affordable and to implement
large-scale integrated care, treatment and prevention programs; and the
Clinton Global Initiative, which focuses effort on a small number of the
most serious issues affecting the world today—education, global health,
energy and climate change, and the alleviation of poverty.
"We are pleased to welcome Women for Women International and the William
J. Clinton Foundation as the newest members of our family of charities,"
said Renée S. Acosta, president and CEO of Global Impact. “Each of
these organizations is outstanding in the field of international
philanthropy, and their work enhances and complements the programs and
services offered by our member charities. Their dedication to delivering
results to people in need and commitment to ethical, transparent operating
principles makes them natural partners for Global Impact."
