Allstate Named Top Company for Executive Women Fifth Year in a Row
The National Association of Female Executives recognizes Allstate for advancing women in the workplace.
(CSRwire) NORTHBROOK, IL.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 8, 2007--Allstate is one of the top
10 best companies for executive women in the country according to The
National Association of Female Executives (NAFE). Thirty companies were
named to this list recognizing companies for their exemplary programs that
promote the advancement of women in leadership positions. Allstate is the
only Illinois-based company to be recognized with this distinction.
"Allstate appears on the NAFE Top 30 Companies for Executive Women list
for the 5th time this year, once again demonstrating a serious commitment
to the success of its women," said Dr. Betty Spence, NAFE president. "The
company's focus on manager accountability--through compensation--for
women's advancement, and its board of directors reviewing succession plans
for gender equity are two programs that will ensure Allstate continues as
an employer of choice for women."
Joan M. Crockett, senior vice president, human resources, was one of the
first women to join the Allstate senior management team more than 12 years
ago and has seen women take on more key functions over time. "Women
continue to assume leadership roles within our organization," said
Crockett. "They are asked to lead critical business functions with a
direct impact on our customers and the bottom line. We understand that
diversity drives performance and innovation, and we encourage it at all
levels of our company."
Supporting the success of women in the workplace has been at the heart of
Allstate's commitment to a high-performance culture for many years. In
1942, the company introduced sales training courses for women, and over
the years added new opportunities in continued education for all
employees. The company also has succession plans in place to ensure that
women participate in leadership and management training, and preparing
them for advancement within the organization.
To be named to the NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women, companies with
a minimum of two women on the board completed a comprehensive application
that focused on the number of women in senior ranks (compared to men and
to the company population), including questions about the programs and
policies which support women's advancement.
