Gap Inc. Named One of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens
Company Earns #25 Ranking By CRO Magazine
(CSRwire) SAN FRANCISCO, CA. – FEBRUARY 14, 2007 – For the second year in a row,
Gap Inc. (NYSE: GPS) has been distinguished as one of the “100 Best
Corporate Citizens” in an annual survey of major U.S. companies by CRO
magazine (formerly Business Ethics magazine). Gap Inc. ranked number 25
on the 2007 list which serves as a national indicator of best practices in
the area of corporate responsibility.
“We strive to make a positive impact on the communities around the world
where we do business,” said Dan Henkle, senior vice president of social
responsibility for Gap Inc. “We’re honored to be recognized as a
leader among U.S. companies.”
Now in its eighth year, the 100 Best Corporate Citizens list identifies
companies that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders. The list is
compiled by KLD Research & Analytics, an independent research firm, from
more than 1,100 of the largest U.S. publicly traded companies.
Companies considered for the list include U.S. firms in the Russell 1000,
the S&P 500, and the Domini 400 Social Index. These firms are ranked on
service in eight stakeholder categories: shareholders, community,
governance, diversity, employees, environment, human rights, and product.
“The 100 Best distinguish themselves from their peers at other large
public companies by embracing higher standards – combining financial
performance with responsible practices on environmental and social
issues,” said Michael Connor, publisher and editor of CRO magazine.
“We salute the 100 Best for their leadership roles in the field of
corporate responsibility.”
