Global Impact Announces Winner of Global Citizen Award
Microsoft Corporation Recognized for Generous Support of Those in Need
(CSRwire) Alexandria, VA --January 25, 2007-- Global Impact announced today that it
will present its highest honor, the Global Citizen award, to Microsoft
Corporation for its generous support of philanthropy worldwide. Renée S.
Acosta, President & CEO of Global Impact, will present the award on
January 29, at the software giant’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
The Global Citizen award was established in 2002 to recognize leaders in
philanthropy and their efforts in the area of international relief and
development.
“Microsoft is building bridges to all communities and all people,
across the globe,” said Ms. Acosta. “They are setting the example for
global citizenship in many ways—by supporting their employees’
commitment to charitable causes; international relief and development
programs; and humanitarian and disaster relief assistance, such as the
effort to rebuild lives and communities in conflict-torn Lebanon.”
For more than a decade, Global Impact’s member charities have received
generous contributions from Microsoft’s employees through the
organization’s annual workplace giving campaign. And in 2006, Microsoft
Corporation pledged $250,000 to the
U.S. – Lebanon Partnership Fund , an effort led by the executives of
four major corporations to assist the people of Lebanon in rebuilding
infrastructure, creating jobs and fueling economic development.
“Microsoft’s commitment to using its resources and influence to make a
positive impact on the world resonates with those dedicated to building
individual self-sufficiency and stronger communities worldwide,” said
Ms. Acosta. “Global Impact honors Microsoft for setting the example for
global citizenship.”

Without Borders USA, Mercy Corps, World Vision and U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
These programs meet the needs of the world’s poorest people in
developing countries around the globe.
In addition to participating in workplace giving campaigns across the
nation, Global Impact also manages the two largest Federal workplace
giving campaigns—the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital
Area (CFCNCA) and the Combined Federal Campaign–Overseas (CFC–O) for
all overseas commands of the Department of Defense. By providing the
opportunity to give internationally, Global Impact continues to offer
American citizens and companies the best way to reach out to people in
