USA Cares and 'Operation Artic Linebacker' Receive National Assistance
SEARS Holdings and USA Cares plan support from Ready Set Holiday website for Military families in Alaska
(CSRwire) FT WAINWRIGHT, AK, December 7, 2006. - Sears Holdings Corporation is
partnering with USA Cares through this holiday season to support the
troops, maintaining the long standing tradition for both organizations of
support to the military. With the Ready Set Holiday program, shoppers can
visit the promotional Web site at www.readysetholiday.com and
purchase a gift from the USA Cares wishlist. USA Cares will distribute
donations to military installations around the nation, including Alaska
locations.
"USA Cares was alerted in late August to the impending problems that would
be facing the hundreds of 172nd families at Ft Wainwright and Ft Richardson
due to the deployment extension," said Roger Stradley, Operations Director
for USA Cares. "Over the last 3 months, USA Cares has donated more than
$40,000 worth of quality of life needs for families experiencing
difficulties.
"Sears Holdings Corporation has a long standing commitment to those in the
military and we feel privileged to assist the troops and their families
through this initiative," said Brenda Storch, a Sears Holdings Corporation
spokesperson.
The Ready Set Holiday program will run through the 24th of December with
the donated goods being received and donated throughout 2007. Stradley
noted that as the Artic Warriors settle back into being home, the need
will go on there and elsewhere and the unwavering support of generous
Americans is an important as ever, "We are a nation at war, and we can't
let them ever feel that we have forgotten these men and women who have
done so much. We also know that while they are home, another infantry
brigade has deployed to Iraq, so we can't rest either."
