Winslow Management Co. And Rothschild Inc. Host Renewable Energy Conference In NYC
Winslow Continues To Strengthen Links With European Firms; New Relationship With Rothschild Follows Recent Partnership With Jupiter Asset Management
(CSRwire) NEW YORK, - Winslow Management Company, a pioneer in environmentally
responsible investing since 1983, and Rothschild Inc., a global leader in
M&A and Euromoney's Renewable Energy Bank of the Year in 2005, co-hosted
the Renewable Energy and Energy Technology Conference on October 18th in
New York City.
The conference was attended by a select group of alternative energy
company representatives, venture capitalists, private equity fund managers
and institutional investors. The goal of the conference was to provide
education, discussion and new insights on a variety of topics related to
the rapidly growing renewable energy and energy technology sectors,
leveraging Winslow's leadership in green investment management and
Rothschild's leadership in renewable energy investment banking.
The strong showing of investor interest at this conference was indicative
of the unprecedented significance of alternative energy in today's
economy. "Some of these ideas have been around for years, and their time
has finally come," said Jack Robinson, President of Winslow Management.
"Day by day, we are witnessing many sustainable energy technologies become
cost competitive with traditional fossil fuels - it's a very exciting
moment in the history of this industry."
More than 10 alternative energy executives presented on renewable energy,
clean and emerging technology companies targeting the efficient provision
of fossil fuels, alternative resource usage and energy reliability. The
conference's keynote speaker was Michael Eckhart, Chairman of the American
Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE), who presented on the financing outlook
for renewable energy and reported "more than $60 billion will be invested
globally in renewable energy in 2006." Peter Bird, Managing Director of
Rothschild in London, provided perspective on the regulatory impact of
renewables, and Mr. Robinson provided economic perspective on the various
drivers behind the current revolution in new energy technologies.
"The amount of capital attracted to these sectors, across the risk
spectrum, has grown tremendously," added Kathleen Burke, Director,
Rothschild Inc. "Close to $8 billion was invested in the US in 2005 in
clean energy. This trend is accelerating in 2006 with investment very
likely doubling."
For Winslow, the conference represented the start of a new relationship
with Rothschild, a leader in renewable energy banking in Europe. Winslow
continues to build international bridges during 2006. Earlier in the
year, Winslow partnered with Jupiter Asset Management, a leading green
investment firm in the UK, to launch the Jupiter Green Investment Trust, a
closed-end fund focused on small, growing companies in renewable energy,
energy conservation, water management, and several other environmental
sectors.
"Investment firms outside of the United States are adding tremendous value
in the area of green investing," said Robinson. "Winslow and its clients
have already seen the benefits of Winslow's growing relationships with
top-flight firms such as Rothschild and Jupiter."
