MicroEdge, Inc. and The Rensselaerville Institute Announce Strategic Alliance to Focus on Outcomes for Foundations
Joint Effort to Create Tools to Measure Performance Outcomes of Charitable Grants from Foundations
(CSRwire) NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2006--MicroEdge, Inc.(www.microedge.com), a wholly owned
subsidiary of Advent Software (www.advent.com) (NASDAQ: ADVS), and
leading provider of solutions for the grantmaking community worldwide,
announced today the establishment of a strategic and cooperative
relationship with The Rensselaerville Institute. This highly-regarded,
45-year old non-profit group is dedicated to measuring and improving
outcomes in all fields of human achievement.
With help from The Institute, MicroEdge will create an outcome-based
application that will offer new options to foundations helping them
establish their baselines for tracking and reporting outcomes. Utilizing
this application, foundations can define and share best practices,
innovations, and solutions to common problems that implementing groups
face. The overall intent is to move the interaction of foundations and
grantees from a focus on what they do - to what they achieve.
According to George W. Macintyre, President of MicroEdge, "The time is
right to include in our software, a stronger focus on results and provide
tools that help create and verify them. We have found just the right
partner in The Rensselaerville Institute. We love the way their simple
language and powerful paradigm shift from 'funder to investor' have helped
foundations."
Macintyre adds, "We've seen a growing demand from foundations of all
sizes and scopes, seeking the capability to accurately establish exactly
what happens to the financial investment they make through their grants.
The respect commanded by The Rensselaerville Institute's reputation for
outcomes' success, makes this a natural fit with our full service
approach."
In echoing the announcement, Harold S. Williams, President of The
Rensselaerville Institute, said, "In our consulting engagements with
foundations worldwide, we have always stopped just short of the critical
connection to core information systems used for grants management.
MicroEdge is not only the preeminent player in this market space, but
their software is the perfect fit for our tools. Outcome measurement can
be made seamless if the data that foundations collect and use is properly
defined up-front and tracked throughout the process."
The strategic alliance focuses on MicroEdge's new PORTICO GRM product
offering that enables foundations to combine their grants management (done
in MicroEdge GIFTS(R), FIMS or FoundationPower) with interactive and
on-going data sharing with grantees. With outcome-based business logic
from The Rensselaerville Institute, PORTICO GRM will create shared
frameworks for defining, tracking, and improving human gain for
individuals served by foundation-funded programs.
From an implementation perspective, MicroEdge will add outcome tools
and templates to its already robust software solutions. The
Rensselaerville Institute will contribute direct consulting with
foundations, using the enhanced software to ensure the best possible use
of information to define outcomes from grants and efficiently help
grantees achieve those outcomes.
