Winslow Green Growth Fund Manager Ranked #1 In Aggressive Growth Category In Barron's / Value Line 2006 Annual Fund Managers Survey
Manager Ranked #9 Overall Among Fund Managers In Survey
(CSRwire) Boston, MA,- Winslow Management Company, LLC, a pioneer in green investing
since 1983, is pleased to announce that the manager of the Winslow Green
Growth Fund, an environmentally responsible, small cap growth mutual fund,
was ranked as the #1 fund manager in the aggressive growth category in the
annual Barron's / Value Line mutual fund manager survey for 2006.
The fund's manager was ranked #9 among all equity mutual fund managers in
the survey.
Jack Robinson, lead manager for the Fund, viewed the ranking as an
affirmation of Winslow's green investing philosophy. "Aggressive growth
managers did very well generally in this survey, since that investing
style has been in favor for the past few years," Robinson said. "But for
Winslow to be ranked higher than any other aggressive growth manager -
that's a terrific confirmation of the tremendous growth opportunities in
green investing." Robinson has been the fund's portfolio manager since
its inception in 2001, with Matthew Patsky joining as co-manager in
2003.
The Winslow Green Growth Fund is an environmentally responsible, small cap
growth mutual fund that invests in clean technology companies and green
sectors such as renewable energy and natural foods. Information about the
Winslow Green Growth Fund is available at www.winslowgreen.com.
The Value Line survey screened more than 3,444 equity mutual funds,
eliminating those with more than two lead managers, as well as managers
with less than three years' tenure. Value Line then organized the survey
by investment objective, cutting sector funds and offerings with less than
$100 million in assets. Only 505 managers finally qualified to be ranked.
The survey was published in the August 14th issue of Barron's, a
leading financial publication.
Winslow Management, the adviser to the Fund, attributes a great deal of
its success to its thorough research methods that integrate environmental
and financial analysis. The firm specializes in small-cap growth investing
and focuses on clean sectors such as software and healthcare technology, as
well as green sectors such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, organic
food production and distribution, and green construction. Winslow's
strategy is to find hidden opportunities among the small companies in
these market niches - companies that appear poised for rapid growth, or
companies whose stocks are unrecognized by the broader market.
Managers in the Barron's / Value Line survey were scored based on
how much risk-adjusted value they added relative to others with the same
Value Line investment objective. "The fact that Value Line and
Barron's considered risk-adjusted value for their survey is
appropriate," Robinson said. "Investors in the Winslow Green Growth Fund
have always seen a certain amount of short-term volatility due to our
investing style, and it's important that anyone looking at the Fund
consider whether we're adding enough value to justify that volatility."
The Winslow Green Growth Fund is available in investor and institutional
share classes, and can be purchased directly or through a number of
brokerage platforms. Winslow Management Company also manages separate
accounts for individuals and institutions, and a hedge fund that is open
to qualified investors.
