Nonprofits Win in Key Partnership of Leading Auction Service Companies
(CSRwire) CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 1,
2006--
Auctionpay and cMarket collaborate to grow online benefit
auction market
Auctionpay(R), a leader in auction software and fundraising solutions
for the nation's nonprofit community, and cMarket(R), Inc., a leading
provider of full service online auctions to support nonprofit causes,
today announced a partnership that extends each company's ability to offer
nonprofit organizations a complete fundraising solution.
The partnership stems from the need for nonprofits to attract donations
year round and take advantage of available technology to achieve
fundraising goals. Nonprofit auctions--from live gala events to ongoing
online auctions--provide a fun and lucrative way to supplement traditional
revenue streams. More than 300,000 nonprofit auctions are held annually in
the United States, raising $14 billion a year. cMarket and Auctionpay are
each leaders in their respective and complementary areas of expertise, and
both focus solely on supporting the nonprofit community. The two companies
will work together to expand their menu of services, providing nonprofit
clients a convenient, integrated fundraising event--online, live or
both.
"We have used both Auctionpay and cMarket for two years now to raise
funds to support the programs at The Summit School and are very pleased
with the results," said Donna Sage, Development Director at The Summit
School in Edgewater, Md. "Utilizing cMarket for online auctions has helped
us greatly increase our fundraising awareness--doubling the number of
bidders we had at our in-person event, and this year increasing funds
raised by over 20 percent.
Auctionpay made processing funds seamless--online and at the live event.
We can see using both products year-round to supplement our
fundraising."
Auctionpay is the first to sign on to cMarket's newly introduced "Powered
By" program, which allows partner companies to extend cMarket services to
their clients under their own private label. The "Powered By" program
makes hosting a cMarket auction even easier and more convenient for
cMarket partners and the nonprofit fundraisers they serve. Effective
immediately, Auctionpay will offer cMarket's OurAuction product suite, the
industry leading solution for fundraising auctions online. The service
includes everything needed to create, promote and manage an online auction
event--a customizable homepage, catalog creation tools, online promotion,
bidding management, and measurable results.
"We have worked with Auctionpay for several years now, and with cMarket
for a couple of online auctions, and both provide excellent service and
products," said Gordon Hamilton, executive director at PONCHO, a 45-year
old, Seattle-based fundraising organization. "We were pleased with the
financial results we achieved from hosting an online auction following our
gala and the excitement it created with a broader audience. We will
continue to explore the advantages of online products in support of our
fundraising efforts."
Auctionpay's fundraising services include event management software,
an online registration and donation service, and on-site payment
processing the day of the event. With online auctions powered by cMarket,
Auctionpay now will provide its nonprofit clients a way to preview, track
and sell their auction items online before, during and after a live event,
and as an added year-round fundraising opportunity. Auctionpay will brand
the cMarket product as Auctionpay Online Auctions. Products and services
are available separately or as an integrated solution.
"The partnership with cMarket is a natural fit for us. By offering online
auction services powered by cMarket, we can help our clients achieve
greater fundraising success," said Steve Sterba, President of Auctionpay.
"Our clients may choose to integrate an online component with their live
event, adding a new dynamic dimension to the gala itself, or hold an
online auction in their off-season to add a new fundraising event."
In addition, cMarket will promote Auctionpay's Online Processing services
as the default credit card processing solution to cMarket online auction
events.
"We are very excited about this partnership. Auctionpay has a strong
foothold in the live auction event space, and has created a unique and
efficient system for the industry to raise much-needed funds," said Jon
Carson, Chairman and CEO of cMarket. "Auctionpay and cMarket's products
combined create a very powerful solution for building mission awareness
and raising funds."
