Certification For Fast-Growing Compliance and Ethics Profession Available in September 2006
Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics Establishes Certification Program
(CSRwire) Minneapolis, MN---July 13, 2006---Beginning in September 2006,
compliance and ethics professionals have an opportunity to demonstrate
their knowledge and expertise in the practice of corporate compliance. The
Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) announced today the
details of its certification program which will provide Certified
Compliance & Ethics Professional certification to individuals associated
with the compliance and ethics profession.
According to Christian and Timbers and smartmoney.com the
compliance and ethics professional is one of the top 10 hottest jobs in
the country. "Gaining respect and recognition for this new profession is
dependant largely on how we develop and manage our profession," said Roy
Snell, SCCE Chief Executive Officer.
"We are now poised to accomplish one of the most important steps in the
maturation of our profession--a professional credential for compliance and
ethics professionals across all industries," said Snell.
The SCCE will offer the first opportunity to take the Certified Compliance
& Ethics Professional (CCEP) certification examination on September 14,
2006. The paper and pencil exam will follow the 5th Annual
Compliance & Ethics Institute, September 11-13, 2006, which is being held
at the Chicago Downtown Marriott in Chicago, Illinois. This professional
certification will give individuals from all industries the platform to
demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in compliance and ethics.
In addition, computer-based testing, administered by Applied Measurement
Professionals, Inc. (AMP) will be available beginning on September 14,
2006 at one of more than 140 locations around the country at AMP
Assessment Centers.
"All fees associated will be waved for the first group taking the test at
the annual meeting," explained Snell. "Individuals taking the test offsite
between September 14 and October 15, 2006 at one of the computer-based
sites around the country will receive a 50% discount. The regular
application fee is $250 for SCCE members and $350 for non-members," added

One year ago, the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics began the
development of a professional certification for compliance and ethics
professionals in all industries. "The credential--Certified Compliance and
Ethics Professional (CCEP)--is designed to help the professional
demonstrate individual knowledge and expertise. Odell Guyton, Global
Compliance Officer for Microsoft and Chair of the SCCE Advisory Board, has
enlisted the assistance of compliance and ethics professionals from
organizations such as Radio Shack, DuPont, Eddie Bauer, the University of
Louisville, Holland and Knight, Brown McCarroll, SAP Public Services,
MediRegs, The Philadelphia Stock Exchange, Foley and Lardner, Tenet
Healthcare, and many others," added Snell.
Background
The process to develop this certification program has gone through several
steps, the first being the development and completion of a job analysis
survey. The Job Analysis Committee met in June 2005 to create the job
analysis survey. In January, enough responses to the survey had been
received to deem the results statistically valid. Members of the Job
Analysis Committee met again in March to review the survey results and
determine the examination detailed content outline.
In the next step, a test development committee, which represented a
variety of industries, met in April 2006 to create the questions that are
used in the certification exam based on the detailed content outline
developed by the Job Analysis Committee.
CCE Professional: The CCEP is a professional with knowledge of
relevant regulations and expertise in compliance processes sufficient to
assist corporate industries to understand and address legal obligations
and promote organizational integrity through the operation of effective
compliance programs.
