(CSRwire)
SPRINGFIELD, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2006--The SemperComm
Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization founded to boost the
morale of U.S. service members stationed at overseas remote bases,
announced today country singer and major U.S. military supporter Aaron
Tippin will be performing during its annual fund-raising gala Thursday,
May 11, 2006.
Tippin rose to fame during the 1991 Gulf War with his hit single,
"You've Got to Stand for Something." His patriotic streak came to the
forefront again with 2001's "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle
Fly," which Tippin produced immediately following the Sept. 11 terrorist
attacks. All proceeds from that single were donated to the American Red
Cross' Disaster Relief Fund.
Tippin is expected to entertain a crowd of approximately 700 military,
Congressional, federal agency and major business leaders and their guests
during the SemperComm event at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in downtown
Washington, D.C.
"We are thrilled to have Aaron Tippin performing at our gala this
year. We couldn't have asked for a better fit, since Aaron is such a big
supporter of the military," said Lara Coffee, SemperComm Foundation
executive director. "I'm sure his music will not only be a big hit, but
his song lyrics will also fill the room with pride in our great nation and
especially for those serving our country."
Tickets for the gala are still available, and are $200 for the general
public or $125 for active-duty military personnel; $75 of the price is
tax-deductible. Silent auction donations are also still being accepted.
Proceeds from both ticket sales and the silent auction go to support The
Foundation's mission. For more information, to donate or to purchase
tickets, contact SemperComm at 703-923-7611 or go to www.sempercomm.org.
