a group of businesspeople who believed businesses have as much
responsibility to workers, communities and the environment as they do to
being financially successful. VBSR was started to pioneer a new focus for
business: "the multiple bottom line." VBSR is one of the largest regional
socially responsible business organizations in the US, even though it
represents a small state.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) uses a multi-stakeholder process to
develop and disseminate globally applicable Sustainability Reporting
Guidelines. The Guidelines were created for voluntary use by organizations
for reporting on the economic, environmental and social dimensions of their
activities, products and services. GRI is a collaborator of the United
Nations Environment Program and works in cooperation with the UN Global
Compact.
