The award recognizes companies for their sustained commitment to socially responsible business practices.

In announcing the award, VBSR commended Green Mountain Power for issuing its report on social responsibility using the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines, one of only a handful of companies in Vermont and the first utility in Vermont to do so.
