Working Woman magazine names Allstate top company for ‘Executive Women’
(CSRwire) Working Woman magazine has named Allstate Insurance Company a “Top
25” company for “Executive Women”. This is the
magazine’s third year recognizing the nation’s best companies
for promoting women into leadership positions. Allstate was the only
Illinois-based company recognized with the honor.
“Talking the talk doesn’t land a company on the annual
Top 25 companies. The “Top 25” is a numbers game; it’s
about how many women are advancing through a company’s management
ranks all they way up to the executive suite,” says Lisa Lee
Freeman, Working Woman features editor.
Approximately 54% of Allstate’s total workforce are women and 40% of
Allstate’s officials and managers are women as reported in
Allstate’s 1999 Annual Report.
“Allstate’s diverse and balanced workforce is instrumental in
supporting our diverse customer base,” says Joan M. Crockett, Senior
Vice President of Allstate Human Resources. “Allstate’s support
of women in the workplace is more a bottom-line issue than a social one.
The payoff is high.”
Working Woman noted Allstate for its management development efforts such
as the on-site executive M.B.A. programs as well as the talent review
process used to identify and track high-potential female managers.
Allstate was also recognized this year for being a great place to work by
Working Mother, Latina Style, Fortune Best Companies for Asians Blacks and
Hispanics, Minority MBA, Careers & the disABLED and Chicago Magazine.
The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) is the nation's largest publicly held
personal lines insurance company. The company’s personal property and
casualty business provides insurance for more than 14 million households
and has approximately 13,000 Allstate agents in the U.S. and Canada. The
company also provides personal lines insurance products and services, such
as Allstate and Encompass Insurance, through independent agents. Allstate
Financial Group is comprised of the nation’s 17th largest life
insurance business as well as businesses that market annuities, savings,
and financial services products through licensed financial professionals.
