Salesforce Foundation Announces Grant Program to Enable Nonprofit Capacity Building
Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative Grants, totaling $500,000, will help nonprofits use technology effectively to reduce administrative costs and advance their missions
(CSRwire) SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- Salesforce Foundation, the global leader in
integrating philanthropy and business, today announced the Nonprofit
Capacity Building Initiative, a grant program designed to foster and
enhance technology deployment for nonprofit organizations. Nonprofit
Capacity Building Initiative Grants will be awarded in three categories;
Development, Regional Mission Support, and Turn-It-Up, each focused on
helping nonprofit organizations obtain, implement, and maximize use of
technologies to reduce administrative costs and to advance and extend
their missions.
The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative Grant Program consists of:
Development Grant - A Development Grant, in the amount of
$25,000 USD, will be awarded each year to one nonprofit organization.
Development Grants provide nonprofits with the financial resources to hire
staff or consultants to help them expand their technology adoption and
technology infrastructure to improve their productivity. Specifically the
grant will enable them to provide tools specifically relevant to the
nonprofit sector, such as gift and volunteer management systems.
Regional Mission Support Grants - Three Regional Mission
Support Grants, in the amount of $5,000 to $25,000 USD each, will be
awarded each year to youth-development organizations in each of Salesforce
Foundation's active regions; the Americas, EMEA and APAC/Japan. These
regional grants will support organizations in their purchase and
implementation of sustainable and effective technologies that will help
them achieve their missions.
Turn-It-Up Grants - Turn-It-Up Grants will be awarded to four
to six global nonprofit organizations annually in the amount of $10,000
USD each. These grants will provide nonprofits with financial resources
to help expedite their implementation and adoption of new technologies.
"One of the primary goals of Salesforce Foundation is to amplify the
success of the nonprofit sector by providing effective tools to visionary
organizations. The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative Grant Program is
an immense step towards that goal," said Suzanne DiBianca, executive
director of the Salesforce Foundation. "The grants will provide
exceptional nonprofit organizations with desperately needed-financial
resources, to implement and adopt more-effective technologies which will
empower them to increase the positive impact they have on people's lives."
Nonprofit recipients will be chosen based on their ability and motivation
to share best practices within the nonprofit community; the impact the
grant will have on the organization's efficacy; the financial necessity of
the donation; and the strength of the organization's plan for supporting
successful implementation. The Nonprofit Capacity Building Initiative
review committee consists of a group of salesforce.com employees
representing each salesforce.com department. Final awards are decided by
the Salesforce Foundation staff with counsel from its Board of Directors
when appropriate. For more information on the Salesforce Foundation
