US Business-NGO Partnerships Conference to Discuss How Advanced Partnerships can Facilitate a Quick and Efficient Response to Emergency Situations
(CSRwire) New York City, February 13 - Ethical Corporation's two-day
conference on Business-NGO partnerships, to be held in New York City on
May 9-10, 2006 will discuss, among other topics, how advanced partnerships
can facilitate a quick and efficient response to emergency situations.
Socially responsible companies, including Henry Schein, a worldwide
distributor of healthcare products, and Deutsche Post (DHL) have partnered
with the Disaster Resource Network, an initiative of the World Economic
Forum to form Medical and Logistics Emergency Teams. Under this program,
DRN serves as the linkage between the private sector and IO/NGOs including
the UN and the Medical Action Network.
This session will discuss:

How to build lasting capability and local capacity
How this program helped the team respond more efficiently to
domestic disasters like Hurricane Katrina
Lou August, Manager of In-Kind donations at the National Headquarters of
the American Red Cross in Washington DC will also speak on this panel. The
American Red Cross is preparing to implement a catastrophic disaster
response industry partnerships program that will have a significant impact
on the disaster response community and on the role of the private sector.
