MicroEdge Hosts Record Attendance at the 2005 MicroEdge Solutions Conference
(CSRwire) NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2005--MicroEdge, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Advent Software (NASDAQ: ADVS) and leading provider of
solutions for the grantmaking community worldwide, hosted 300 clients in
Orlando, Florida last month at the 2005 MicroEdge Solutions Conference, an
annual event attended by a worldwide audience of philanthropy professionals
and corporate giving executives. Clients spent three days participating in
educational sessions, networking events and hands-on technology training.
The record attendance this year resulted in the largest Solutions
Conference in the event's history.
Celebrating 20 years in the software business and in service to the
philanthropic community, MicroEdge President Jim Weil formally opened the
conference in a speech reflecting on long-term success in technology. "In
the software industry, 20 years is at least five lifetimes and 50
generations," Mr. Weil remarked. "Why has MicroEdge not only survived but
flourished? There is only one answer - commitment to our customers and a
company culture built on service to our clients." The full text of Mr.
Weil's remarks can be found at http://www.microedge.com/news/JW_ConfSpeech_Web.pdf.
The conference theme, 'Solutions for a Changing World,' set the stage for
the introduction of new product offerings from MicroEdge. In his opening
remarks, MicroEdge Executive Vice President George Macintyre outlined the
technology path that MicroEdge will follow in the coming year based on the
company's vision for the future of technology for the giving community.
"Organizations that understand the demanding dynamics of change are not
just survivors, they can thrive in virtually any business
climate...particularly in an era of transparency and tighter government
reporting requirements. The key to effectively dealing with change is
'business agility' ...and removing bottlenecks that impede (the process of
achieving agility). At MicroEdge, we've developed a technology strategy to
remove bottlenecks...that will make your organization more agile and adept
at dealing with change." The full text of Mr. Macintyre's remarks can be
found at http://www.microedge.com/news/GM_ConfSpeech_Web.pdf.
Along those lines, MicroEdge introduced two new products to GIFTS users,
some of whom have been clients for over 20 years.
MicroEdge Portico GRM, the first product offering from the MicroEdge
Portico suite of portal technology for grantmakers, was unveiled during
opening remarks and then to an unprecedented 150 attendees at the
product's focus group at a later session. MicroEdge Portico GRM is a new
grantee relationship management solution that gives grantmakers and those
they fund the ability to freely exchange information throughout the entire
grant lifecycle. MicroEdge Portico GRM will connect seamlessly with all
MicroEdge platforms: GIFTS(R), FIMS and FoundationPower. After the
presentation, the audience was invited to break up into groups to share
feedback and thoughts about the new portal technology with MicroEdge
senior staff members.
MicroEdge Portico GRM will begin a beta testing cycle before the end of
the year and will be released early in 2006.
Also introduced to conference attendees was GIFTS Plus Pack .NET
Extension, the first utility pack offered by MicroEdge. GIFTS Plus Pack
.NET Extension enhances the enterprise grantmaking system with four
utilities that offer more efficient, effective grantmaking functionality.
GIFTS Plus Pack .NET Extension is currently available.
At the annual client luncheon, attendees were treated to a musical
recital featuring young elementary school students performing songs on
violin. The event, organized to showcase the work from just one of the
thousands of grantees that benefit from MicroEdge clients' charitable
work, was the result of a local non profit organization, A Gift For Music,
which provides musical instruments and instruction to more than 800 urban
students in the Orlando, Florida area each year. A Gift For Music is
primarily funded by Walt Disney, Inc., as well as philanthropic
organizations such as Orlando Magic, Edyth Bush Charitable Foundation and
Bank of America. Representatives from each organization were on-hand at
the luncheon.
In addition to introducing new products, the 2005 MicroEdge Solutions
Conference offered 58 educational sessions, hands-on labs, technology
sessions and networking opportunities. The popular "Dr. Is In" program at
the MicroEdge Resource Center, offered clients the opportunity to make
appointments with MicroEdge technical support and product specialists to
work one-on-one to resolve current software issues.
