IBM Releases 'IBM and the Future of our Cities''
(CSRwire) ARMONK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2005--IBM announced today
that the sixth podcast in the series, "IBM and the Future of . . ." began
today on its investor Web site. The podcast is called "IBM and the Future
of our Cities."
"IBM and the Future of our Cities" discusses Habitat JAM, a unique and
historic online event sponsored by the government of Canada in partnership
with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and IBM.
Habitat JAM will bring together tens of thousands of city dwellers from
all over the world, from the most affluent to the poorest, in one giant
global conversation. Using a set of flat, collaborative techniques
developed and used internally at IBM called "jamming," Habitat JAM will
tackle some of the biggest problems facing our cities, from the growth of
slums to security, access to water and environmental degradation.
Habitat JAM will run for 72 hours from December 1-3. Participation is free
and open to everyone. To join in, participants must first register at
www.habitatjam.com. Thousands of individuals from more than 125 countries
have already registered.
The podcast is hosted by George Faulkner and features a discussion
between Charles Kelly, commissioner general of the World Urban Forum III,
which is using the jam to help develop the agenda for its June conference
in Vancouver, and Mike Wing of IBM Strategic Communications, who leads
IBM's jamming activities internally.
The podcast will be available on IBM's investor Web site, at http://www.ibm.com/investor/viewpoint/podcast/16-11-05-1.phtml.
While the current information on its investor Web site is largely
historical, IBM's podcast series discusses both general technology trends
and IBM innovations in a variety of emerging business and technology
areas.
Future topics will include "IBM and the Future of . . ." healthcare,
computer gaming, work and privacy.
Other podcasts in the series can be downloaded at http://www.ibm.com/investor/viewpoint/podcast.phtml.
