Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Signs ''Million Mile'' Sponsorship with NuRide
(CSRwire) Herndon, VA.- NuRide, Inc. (www.nuride.com), the nation's first
incentive-based ride network announced today that Waterbury, Vermont based
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, a leader in the specialty coffee
industry, has signed on as a "Million-Mile" sponsor. Through its NuRide
sponsorship Green Mountain Coffee Roasters expands its commitment to
environmental stewardship locally in Vermont and for communities across
multiple states where the company's customers live and work.
Founded in 2002, NuRide provides rewards to its members for sharing rides.
The company was founded on the belief that people should be rewarded for
the service they provide to their community when they share a ride.
NuRide members earn "NuRide Miles" which can be redeemed for gift cards
and gift items from leading retailers. For each shared ride completed
through their service, NuRide calculates the associated reduction in
vehicle miles traveled and emissions. As a "Million-Mile" sponsor Green
Mountain Coffee Roasters will sponsor NuRide members as they take:-
26,000 shared rides, resulting in
- 34,000 fewer car trips,
- 1,000,000 fewer miles driven,
- 428 fewer tons of auto emissions, and
- 44,000 fewer gallons of gasoline burned.
Michael Dupee, Green
Mountain Coffee Roasters Vice President of Social Responsibility said,
"Our 'Million-Mile' sponsorship with NuRide is a great way for Green
Mountain Coffee Roasters to support environmental sustainability in the
communities where our customers live and work every day. As a NuRide
sponsor we can make a measurable difference toward reducing motor vehicle
related greenhouse gas emissions in the United States today."
Through their NuRide sponsorship Green Mountain Coffee Roasters will also
make the service available to the company's employees. The two companies
are also working towards making the service available to all Vermont
residents. Rick Steele, NuRide's CEO, hopes to be able to "Launch in
Vermont in time for state residents and visitors to be able to use NuRide
to share rides to the slopes this winter." Steele continued, "We are
delighted to have Green Mountain Coffee Roasters as a sponsor; the company
is truly an example for corporate social responsibility with its support of
programs that improve the quality of life in Vermont, in countries where
its coffee is produced, and in communities where its customers live and
work."
