Business for Social Responsibility Partners with 3 Phases Energy and NativeEnergy to Make 2005 Annual Conference a 'Green' Event
(CSRwire) Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) is pleased to announce that
NativeEnergy and 3 Phases Energy Services will be offsetting 100% of carbon
emissions generated by travel and electricity usage during BSR's 2005
Conference, "Questioning Assumptions - Changing Frameworks," in
Washington, DC, Nov.1-4, 2005.
"As a global business organization promoting social responsibility, we are
committed to reducing our impact on the environment," said Michael
Schilling, BSR's Conference Director. "The energy-related activities
calculated from air travel, electricity and natural gas usage indicate
that the Conference would release 1,625 tons of CO2 emissions into the
atmosphere. Offsetting that impact by purchasing renewable energy
certificates helps support renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas
emissions. It would be equivalent to taking 3,250 cars off the road for an
entire month," he said.
Renewable energy certificates represent the environmental benefits created
when electricity is generated from renewable resources instead of fossil
fuels that release air pollution. NativeEnergy and 3 Phases Energy are
generously sponsoring these offsets. 3 Phases supports over 56 wind,
landfill gas, biomass, geothermal and solar generation facilities across
the U.S. NativeEnergy has a diverse portfolio of energy resources,
including the first and only tribally owned and operated wind farm, plus
solar, family dairy farm methane, and other biomass energy projects.
According to Billy Connelly, Senior Advisor at NativeEnergy, "Every
NativeEnergy project helps fight global warming while enabling Native
tribes and family farms to build sustainable economies and enhance the
reliability and security of the electricity grid. We're proud to help BSR
reduce its carbon footprint and contribute to the development of more
renewable energy."
"3 Phases applauds BSR for holding true to its mission by proactively
managing the sustainability of its Conference," said Steve McDougal,
Senior Manager of Green Certificates for 3 Phases Energy. "BSR's purchase
of Certificates benefits the environment by increasing renewable energy
generation, facilitating the construction of new facilities, and
displacing fossil generation from the electricity system."
