JohnsonDiversey qualifies for AISE ''Charter for Sustainable Cleaning''
Charter promotes transparency in sustainability performance
(CSRwire) SCHIPHOL, Netherlands - JohnsonDiversey, the leading European
provider of cleaning and hygiene solutions for the professional market,
has recently passed an independent check of its sustainability profile,
conducted by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance. Following this validation,
JohnsonDiversey is the first company in the Industrial and Institutional
Cleaning industry to join the Charter for Sustainable Cleaning.
"JohnsonDiversey has had long tradition of commitment to sustainability,"
says Mark Cross, President of JohnsonDiversey's Europe, Middle East and
Africa region. "Joining this Charter follows such past actions as being
the first in the 1970s to voluntarily ban ozone-depleting chemicals from
our aerosol products."
Going beyond current legislative requirements the Charter is a voluntary
industry initiative under supervision of the International Association for
Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (A.I.S.E.). Its purpose is to
promote as well as demonstrate continuous improvement of the industry's
sustainability profile.
Companies participating in the Charter will apply sustainability thinking
at all phases of the product life-cycle, from product design, through
manufacture, to use and disposal. This means they will not only be active
in reducing impacts on the environment but also in guarding the health and
well-being of customers and consumers, in operating with high ethical
standards and in contributing to economic advancement. Companies admitted
to the Charter gain the right to use the Charter logo.
"JohnsonDiversey's acceptance into the AISE Charter underscores our
commitment to corporate responsibility and is an important recognition of
the steps we've taken toward increased sustainability and worker safety,"
says Mark Cross, President of JohnsonDiversey's Europe, Middle East and
Africa region. "The Charter is one more step we're taking to ensure that
we help our customers meet high cleaning and hygiene standards whilst
continually improving environmental and social performance."
Under the Charter JohnsonDiversey will annually submit a set of
sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPI) which will be collated
along with industry KPI's and published by A.I.S.E. More information can
