Dell Responds With Assistance for Hurricane Victims
Company Pledges $2 Million
(CSRwire) ROUND ROCK, Texas - Dell today announced a pledge of $2 million to
the American Red Cross to assist with relief efforts for victims of
Hurricane Katrina. The donation will come from a combined corporate gift
of $1 million and a target of $1 million in contributions from
employees.
The company also announced other efforts to provide aid, including:
A food drive on its U.S. campuses beginning next week to collect
diapers, bottled water, peanut butter, tuna and granola bars.
Volunteer efforts. Dell is encouraging employees to volunteer their
time to local organizations addressing the tragedy. Employees can get
information on how to help at a special internal Dell Web site.
Hardware donations. Dell is donating notebook computers and wireless
networking for use at the Astrodome in Houston, which is housing refugees
from the storm. Dell is also offering infrastructure support to rebuild a
Business Center in Baton Rouge, educational technology requirements for
children impacted by the displacement and other efforts to help victims
get back on their feet.
In the midst of the tragedy, Dell remains focused on customers. The
company is prioritizing its affected customers by Healthcare, Government
and Emergency Services, and Infrastructure and is preparing for increased
customer support calls. Dell is mobilizing its teams for quick response
once they are allowed into affected areas. They will continue to monitor
our customer needs and be prepared with support 24-hours-a-day as we
strive to help them regain some sense of normalcy.
