Harvard Business School Announces A New Executive Education Program To Enhance Firm Value Through Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSRwire) BOSTON, Mass.-- Harvard Business School (HBS), with more than 50
years' experience in executive education, announces a new business
strategy program that addresses the increasing emphasis on corporate
social responsibility as an important component of good business practice.
Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies to Create Business and Social
Value is being launched on the HBS campus from October 23 to 26, 2005.
"The program will enable firms to achieve even higher levels of
economic and social performance--positively driving the bottom line while
also contributing significantly to the betterment of society." - HBS
Professor V. Kasturi Rangan, Faculty Chair
Developed in response to increasing expectations of consumers, employees,
investors, communities, and governments for socially responsible business
practices, this Executive Education program provides senior corporate
executives with the knowledge, skills, tools, and frameworks to integrate
social responsibility as part of their corporate strategy, drive it
throughout the organization, and, ultimately, leverage corporate social
responsibility for improved business performance.
Through in-depth examination of the dilemmas, challenges, and complexities
inherent to existing models, Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies to
Create Business and Firm Value pushes the frontiers of the field and brings
to focus the next generation of issues facing practitioners. The
comprehensive curriculum is designed around four core topics:
Managing for Social and Firm Values;
Driving Corporate Social Responsibility Throughout the Organization;
Managing Risk and Decision Making; and
Measuring Corporate Social Responsibility Performance.
The Harvard Business School faculty team includes James E. Austin, Marc J.
Epstein, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Herman B. "Dutch" Leonard, and V. Kasturi
Rangan--all of whom are distinguished academicians, skilled educators,
groundbreaking researchers, award-winning authors, and entrepreneurs in
their respective fields. Through case analyses, lectures, classroom
exercises, small group discussions, and exposure to the latest research,
the faculty will help senior executives develop and manage strategic
corporate social responsibility initiatives that integrate with their
business practices and produce measurable results. The HBS Executive
Education learning experience is further enhanced by the exchange of
experiences and perspectives among a select group of highly accomplished
peers.
Corporate Social Responsibility: Strategies to Create Business and Social
value is designed for senior executives, CEOs, and general managers in a
broad range of industries, who are responsible for corporate social
responsibility initiatives and organizational strategy. Participants
represent a variety of industries, including retail, financial services,
and manufacturing, as well as organizations of different sizes with varied
structures. Through interactive sessions, key decision-makers examine the
costs, benefits, and impact of corporate social responsibility
initiatives, as well as the importance of driving strategic corporate
social responsibility throughout their organizations. As they explore
critical emerging issues, participants will learn to formulate and execute
strategic corporate social responsibility initiatives that improve business
performance and enhance bottom-line results.
