'Black Enterprise' Names Xerox Among '30 Best Companies for Diversity'
(CSRwire) Stamford, Conn. - Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) demonstrated
leadership in diversity makes it one of the "30 Best Companies for
Diversity," according to a new list announced yesterday by Black
Enterprise magazine.
"The B.E. 30 Best Companies for Diversity are setting the standard for the
rest of corporate America," editors write in the July 2005 issue, on
newsstands June 28. "Their commitment to diversity and inclusion are key
to maintaining African American gains in employment, earning power, and
business ownership."
To develop its inaugural list, the magazine evaluated 1,000 of America's
largest public companies and 50 global companies with significant U.S.
operations on several criteria including supplier diversity, marketing and
community outreach. Winning companies also required significant
representation of African Americans and other ethnic minorities in four
key areas: corporate procurement, corporate boards, senior management and
the total work force.
In particular, Xerox was cited as being "among the very best at bringing
talented people of color into the senior management ranks." Further
highlighting this honor, Xerox people are featured in a photograph that
accompanies the Black Enterprise "30 Best Companies" special
report.
"A creative, motivated, diverse work force drives the most effective
business results," said Philip Harlow, Xerox's chief diversity and
employee advocacy officer. "We believe it's vital to continue fostering
and monitoring a diversity program that ensures Xerox consistently grows
as a company where all employees are empowered, can develop their talents
and can build strong careers."

Earlier this year, three Xerox executives were selected for Black
Enterprise magazine's "75 Most Powerful Blacks in Corporate America"
list: Quincy Allen, president, Production Systems Group; Ursula Burns,
president, Business Group Operations; and Emerson Fullwood, chief of staff
and marketing, Xerox North America.
In addition, other magazines recently citing Xerox on their 2005 "best
companies" lists include DiversityInc's "Top 50 Companies for
Diversity," Business Ethics' "100 Best Corporate Citizens," and Essence's
"35 Great Places to Work."
