Calvert Underwrites PBS Documentary Celebrating Social Entrepreneurship
(CSRwire) Portland, Oregon - Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) is proud to
announce Calvert as a new sponsor of the upcoming PBS series THE NEW
HEROES. Based in Bethesda, Maryland, Calvert is best known as the
nation's largest family of socially responsible mutual funds.
THE NEW HEROES will air on PBS June 28th and July 5th at 8pm
nationwide, The Series shares compelling stories of people around the
world who are true "social entrepreneurs." They are tackling chronic
problems of poverty, disease, violence, and ignorance with revolutionary
ideas for lasting change. Just like their counterparts in the business
world, social entrepreneurs need capital to fuel the growth of their
organizations and expand their services.
"Historically, some of the most amazing business and societal
opportunities have come from people and organizations who find innovative
solutions to seemingly intractable issues," said Reggie Stanley, Chief
Marketing Officer at Calvert. "We celebrate these entrepreneurs who are
demonstrating the human, individual and collective potential for all of us
to make small and large differences in the world," he added.
"OPB is extraordinarily pleased to have Calvert as a supporter of NEW
HEROES, " said Jack Galmiche, Executive in Charge of Production at
OPB. "Calvert represents a caliber and compassion fitting to such an
important and revolutionary movement as social entrepreneurship. We are
delighted to have them as a key partner in this ground-breaking
documentary."
In addition to new funding provided by Calvert, major funding for THE
NEW HEROES was provided by the Skoll Foundation and additional funding
provided by the Flora Family Foundation.
