Since 2000, Starbucks Coffee Company has demonstrated its commitment to
community life through the Neighborhood Park Grants program. This unique
initiative has granted $400,000 to the improvement of parks in King County
over the past four years, giving 40 neighborhood organizations grants of
$10,000 each to fund a variety of park improvement projects. This year's
expanded contribution has seen the program grow from a local initiative to
a significant community-improvement program.
From the more than 100 applications considered, this year's grant
recipients were selected on the basis of the quality of the park project
as a potential community gathering place; the need, involvement and
interest from the community; and, importantly, Starbucks partner
(employee) and store involvement with the project.
