Working Mother Magazine Names Allstate ‘Top 10’ Company for Working Mothers
(CSRwire) Allstate Insurance Company is a great place for moms!
Working Mother Magazine named Allstate as a "Top 10" company in its
list of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers." This marks the 10th
year that Allstate has made the prestigious list and the magazine’s
15th year recognizing the nation’s best companies for working
mothers.
"Allstate is honored to be identified as one of Working Mother
Magazine’s ‘Top 10’ companies for working mothers," says
Edward M. Liddy, Chairman, President and CEO of Allstate. "We know our
employees can’t give their best if they are concerned, conflicted or
challenged regarding the welfare of their families. So it is gratifying
that our continuing extensive efforts to create a supportive environment
for all of our employees would be recognized with this prestigious honor."
Working Mother selected this year’s 100 Best Companies based on six
criteria: child care, leave for new parents, flexible work arrangements,
work/life benefits such as elder care and adoption assistance, and
advancement opportunities for women. Editors looked at a range of
supportive company offerings, including health insurance premiums,
availability of time off to care for sick kids, mentoring programs and
extras such as on-site gyms and other conveniences.
"This year, the competition was tougher than ever before," says Lisa
Berenson, Editor in Chief, Working Mother Magazine. "Businesses had to be
more creative and proactive in finding ways to accommodate their
employees’ work life needs."
At Allstate’s corporate headquarters in Northbrook, Ill., employee
needs are met through onsite child care, health and wellness services,
flexible work schedules and other conveniences such as dry cleaning and
postal services. Many of these same services and others are offered to
employees at field offices around the country. And at every site,
opportunities for working mothers to advance in their careers are at the
forefront.
"Allstate is totally committed to its employees," said Hilda Leo, Allstate
working mother. "Balancing work and family by offering flexible work
arrangements is an area Allstate has integrated into the daily culture. I
telecommute as needed and use flex time to take my son Aaron to doctors
appointments and other necessary activities. This allows me not to miss
those special moments with my son. I’ve also taken advantage of the
educational opportunities that exist at Allstate and plan to obtain my MBA
next year. I couldn’t have chosen a more supportive company than
Allstate."
"Just as mothers are generally held to be the heart of the family,
Allstate’s heart is embodied by its employees and agents," adds Joan
M. Crockett, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Allstate Insurance
Co. "Our corporate culture is to provide a caring and supportive
environment ...one in which each individual is given the opportunity to
achieve as much success and happiness as they are able."
The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) is the nation’s largest
publicly held personal lines insurance company. The company’s
personal property and casualty business provides insurance for more than
14 million households and has more than 13,000 Allstate agents in the U.S.
and Canada. The company also provides personal lines insurance products and
services, such as Allstate and CNA Personal Insurance, through independent
agents. The Allstate Life Group of Companies is the nation’s 17th
largest life insurance business, marketing investment, savings and
financial services products through licensed financial professionals.
