International Business Conference on Corporate Citizenship and the Global Economy
Thursday, May 19 - Friday, May 20
1615 H Street, NW
Washington, D.C.
(CSRwire) WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce's Center
for Corporate Citizenship (CCC) will host a conference on corporate
citizenship in the global economy. Participants, including government
officials, business leaders and policy experts, will discuss how to
improve business and society relations in the context of the global
economy.
"Making a difference on important social issues, helping developing
countries grow and building better relationships in regions like Europe,
the Middle East and the Pacific Rim are part of what international
corporate citizenship is all about." said Stephen Jordan, executive
director of CCC. "They're also very important goals for the U.S.
government and we intend to bring together leaders from both the public
and private sectors to explore ways to work more effectively together on
these issues that they have in common."
The conference will feature speakers from the U.S. State Department,
Millennium Challenge Corporation, Harvard University, the Council on
Foreign Relations, Abbott Laboratories, ChevronTexaco, the Coca Cola
Company, DaimlerChrysler, IBM, KPMG Foundation, McDonald's, and other
leading agencies, companies and organizations.
CCC's Partnership Conference is an annual event. Each year this
conference focuses on a particular social issue about which companies are
concerned and brings together business, government, and nonprofit partners
to promote and improve the effectiveness of public-private partnerships.
The 2005 Partnership Conference: Corporate Citizenship and the Global
Economy
will examine how companies are responding to global issues through
public-private partnerships, philanthropy, communications, and other
contributions to development theory and practice.
