Interface Named to Business Ethics Best Corporate Citizens List
Annual Survey Focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility Performance of Major U.S. Companies
(CSRwire) Atlanta - Interface, Inc. has been named to the 100 Best Corporate
Citizens List by Business Ethics magazine. The survey recognizes best
practices in the area of corporate social responsibility.
Among the 100 companies on the list, Interface (ranking at #65) received
top scores in the environment and governance categories. Speaking of his
company's environmental commitment in the magazine, Interface Chairman Ray
Anderson noted, "We can now clearly make the business case for
sustainability. Our costs are down, not up. Sustainability doesn't cost
more, it saves."
The 100 Best Corporate Citizens survey, now in its sixth year, identifies
firms that excel at serving a variety of stakeholders with excellence and
integrity. "What distinguishes the 100 Best Corporate Citizens from their
peers is a commitment to higher standards," said Marjorie Kelly, editor of
Business Ethics.
The list is based on a database maintained by KLD Research & Analytics, a
Boston-based social research firm. More than 1,000 companies were
considered, including the largest publicly-traded firms in the U.S. Data
from each company was statistically analyzed and ranked in eight
categories: total return to stockholders, community, governance,
diversity, employees, environment, human rights and product. More
information on the list can be found at www.business-ethics.com.
