Citizens Advisers' Dr. Vesela Veleva to Present at Harvard
Toxics, Hazardous Waste and Human Health: An Investor Perspective
(CSRwire) Portsmouth, NH - Today Citizens Advisers announced Dr. Vesela
Veleva, social research analyst, will present "Toxics, Hazardous Waste and
Human Health: An Investor Perspective" at Harvard's Weatherhead Center for
International Affairs. The topic will be introduced to over eighty
graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the Harvard Extension
School. Dr. Veleva's lecture is designed to complement Harvard's class
"The World Today," teaching students to examine, understand and analyze
contemporary international politics.
The presentation will include some of the original research conducted by
Citizens Advisers Social Research Analysts Vesela Veleva and Suresh Sethi
concerning new European Union directives requiring the complete phaseout
of several toxic chemicals commonly used in the electronics industry by
2006. Citizens Advisers, a socially responsible investment manager,
initiated a study last year of electronic components manufacturers to
evaluate the state of their preparedness to address the new rules.
The complete study is published in the journal Corporate Environmental
Strategy, Veleva, V. and Sethi, S. (October 2004), The Electronics
Industry In a New Regulatory Climate: Protecting the Environment and
Shareholder Value, Vol. 11. For further information about Citizens'
study, please click here.
Ms. Veleva earned her doctorate in pollution prevention and cleaner
production from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell; a master of
science degree in pollution and environmental control from the University
of Manchester, UK, and a bachelor of science degree in electrical
engineering from the Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria.
