Deloitte & Touche USA LLP Conducts Largest Electronic Giving Campaign In United Way History For Second Year
(CSRwire) NEW YORK - For the second year in a row, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP,
one of the nation's leading professional services organizations, ran the
largest-ever United Way electronic workplace giving campaign. The people
of Deloitte pledged $14.4 million to charitable causes by using United
eWay for its 2004 campaign. United eWay is the charitable organization's
web-based application for electronic giving.
Deloitte has annually increased its total level of giving for the past
several years. "Giving to our communities through United Way is an
expression of our values," said William G. Parrett, Global CEO of Deloitte
and board member of United Way of America. "We're a business leader in
many respects, but nothing gives us greater pride than to lead in our
support of the community."
Brian Gallagher, President of United Way of America, noted that Deloitte
also broke its own record and continues to lead the country in corporate
participation in United Way's prestigious Alexis de Tocqueville Society
(AdT), which is comprised of individuals who contribute $10,000 or more.
"Deloitte continues to set the standard in workplace giving," said
Gallagher. "It's a true measure of leadership to consistently top the
Alexis de Tocqueville list." With more than 500 donors at this level,
Deloitte increased its number of AdT members by over 15 percent.
Deloitte considers its United Way campaign to be a major part of its
overall commitment to the community. "Our workplace giving program allows
our people to fully demonstrate their willingness to help others. I'm
proud of these results and I appreciate the generosity of our people,"
said James H. Quigley, CEO of Deloitte & Touche USA LLP . "The United
eWay tool facilitates giving by providing everyone with an easy way to
contribute. We think our results are a testament to its effectiveness and
efficiency."
Deloitte's United Way campaign complements the organization's workplace
volunteerism and other philanthropic efforts throughout the year. In the
spirit of its commitment to community service, Deloitte recently held
IMPACT Day, its national day of volunteering. Nearly 20,000 employees in
the United States took the opportunity to set aside their work for the day
and volunteer in the community. Deloitte is widely recognized as a leader
in groundbreaking human resource programs and community involvement and is
known for fostering a culture that is inclusive, diverse, open and
flexible. Deloitte considers community involvement a business imperative
and encourages its people to volunteer their time and talent.
