AT&T Raises $700,000 in American Cancer Society(R) Relay For Life Events
(CSRwire) BEDMINSTER, N.J. - More than 1,800 AT&T employees and retirees
helped raise more than $700,000 during this year's American Cancer Society
Relay For Life - nearly two and a half times the amount raised last year.
AT&T fielded 144 teams in 31 states, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom.
During the last five years of AT&T's national involvement in Relay For
Life, hundreds of AT&T teams have helped raise more than $1.3 million for
cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services.
This year, AT&T doubled the number of Relays in which its employees and
retirees participated, while team membership more than doubled from last
year.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an overnight event that
mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors,
remember loved ones, and raise money for the fight against cancer. AT&T
employees are eligible to volunteer under AT&T CARES, the company program
that gives employees one paid day a year for community service. AT&T CARES
also provides grant funds to augment contributions raised by AT&T employee
teams. This year, AT&T CARES provided $180,000 of the total contribution.
