Xerox Recyclable Ream Wrap Earns Top Award From Flexible Packaging Association
Third Major Award from Industry Recognizes Ream Wrap for Providing Significant Savings to Customers, Environment
(CSRwire) Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) was recently recognized by the Flexible
Packaging Association (FPA), the leading trade association for converters
and suppliers of flexible packaging, with its 1999 Top Packaging Award for
Xerox' groundbreaking recyclable ream wrap, introduced in early 1999.
The recyclable ream wrap was heralded for it's enhancement to
product protection, increased customer convenience, environmental
significance, technical achievement, and industry advancement and
innovation. The panel of judges represented the consumer, press,
government and environmental community of the $18 billion flexible
packaging industry.
"Xerox is the first in the industry to provide 100 percent environmentally
responsible cut- sheet paper packaging with the development of a recyclable
ream wrapper," said Jim Lesko, president, Xerox Supplies Group, Xerox
Corporation. "We are setting the standard in the packaging industry with
flexible products that, when recycled, provide an added cost savings
benefit to the customers, as well as an environmental savings to our
communities."
Previous industry awards earned by the recyclable ream wrap include two
top honors from the Technology of the Year competition held by Packaging
and Engineering Technology. The product won Best of Show in the
Containers/ Components/Materials category, and a Gold Award in the
Materials (Paper, Film, Foil) category.
In 1999, Xerox Corporation introduced the product as the industry's first
commercial, cost-effective recyclable ream wrapper for cut-sized paper. By
exceeding standard government recycling mandates, Xerox has demonstrated
its environmental commitment while providing a fiscal benefit to
customers. This ream wrap, which can be recycled with corrugated waste,
eliminates the cost of disposing current poly-laminated non-recyclable
ream wrappers to landfills.
