The Emerging Role of Business in a Chaotic World
World Business Academy Conference in London
13 & 14 May 2003
(CSRwire) OJAI, CA - The World Business Academy will hold a two-day conference
in London on May 13-14 for current Members and Fellows. The subject of
this conference is “The Emerging Role of Business in a Chaotic
World.” Corporate business leaders, entrepreneurs and others who
are interested in learning about consciousness in business based on
principles of sustainability and ethics are also invited.
The meeting will be held at the International Business Leaders Forum
offices at 15-16 Cornwall Terrace, London NW1 4QP.
The World Business Academy is an organization dedicated to promoting
consciousness in business by assuming “responsibility for the
whole.” It was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Ojai,
California. Members and Fellows come from 20 countries around the
world.
Academy President, Rinaldo Brutoco commented: “The global economic
situation continues to spiral downward for the Western Democracies as a
group, while the Middle East stands poised on the brink of war. Clearly,
world order and stability are very much at risk. Even more clearly, the
business community should begin to direct global activities with a greater
sense of enlightened self-interest by alleviating a portion of the
world’s pain or the marketplace of ‘customers’ will be
so depleted that business will run short of capital for failure to develop
guiding principles.”
Seating at the conference is limited to 40 people. The cost is US$350 for
both days. Single-day rates are available.
Notes to editors:
World Business Academy
The World Business Academy was founded in 1987 as a result of discussions
conducted by the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) International in Menlo
Park, California USA. These discussions centred upon the role and
responsibility of business in relation to today's critical moral,
environmental and social dilemmas.
A small group of senior business executives and academics emerged from
these meetings. They created a research and education institution, the
World Business Academy, to help the global business community understand
and participate in the new constructive role of business in society.
Work of the Academy
Core areas of the Academy's research and work include sustainable business
strategies, global reconstruction, the challenge of values-driven
leadership, development of human potential at work, and understanding
"best practices" within new business paradigms. All of these concepts,
linked together and employed, represent the ongoing work of the Academy in
its dialogues, research, publications, meetings and networking.
The Academy provides a collaborative network for progressive business
leaders, entrepreneurs and scholars and hosts world-class forums,
dialogues and retreats. It forms alliances with like-minded businesses and
non-profit organizations and periodically delivers research and knowledge
from the world’s top thinkers, many of them Academy Fellows.
