AT&T Funds Annual Telework America Research Survey
Survey To Explore New Technologies Used By Remote Workers
(CSRwire) BEDMINSTER, NJ - AT&T today announced funding of the annual Telework
America Research Survey. The survey, sponsored by AT&T and managed by the
International Telework Association and Council (ITAC), produces detailed
information about the evolution of telework in the United States.
Previous ITAC Telework America Research studies documented steady growth
in the practice of working remotely.
“We are very appreciative of the AT&T Foundation’s ongoing
support of ITAC’s Telework America Research,” said Tim Kane,
President of ITAC. “This year’s AT&T Foundation grant will
help ITAC explore a new research area -- the impact broadband and other
technologies are having on people who work remotely.”
"Everyone wins with telework--businesses are more efficient, employees are
happier workers, and communities have cleaner air," said Joseph Roitz, AT&T
Director of Telework and Workplace Transformation. “For those who may
have been left out of the economic mainstream in the past, such as seniors
and individuals with disabilities, telework holds the opportunity to
‘Get There Without Going Anywhere.’ SM We're proud to
sponsor ITAC's groundbreaking research into this new structure of work for
the knowledge economy."
Telework America was originally established in 1995 as Telecommute
America, a public-private effort of representatives from government,
non-profit and corporate entities bound by their mutual interest in
advancing the nation’s knowledge and understanding of this workplace
option.
The mission of the project has been to encourage acceptance and growth of
telework arrangements through a nationwide program of public awareness,
education and active public-private participation focused on benefits for
employees, employers, communities and the environment.
To publicize the status of telework in the United States, ITAC undertook
significant research that was supported by the AT&T Foundation.
Authoritative studies were issued in 1999, 2000 and 2001. The 2002 survey
results are scheduled to be presented next month. Summaries of past
Telework America Survey Reports can be found on ITAC's Web site at
www.workingfromanywhere.org.
The AT&T Foundation invests in projects that address a range of public
concerns. Emphasis is placed on programs that serve the needs of people
in communities where AT&T has a significant business presence; initiatives
that use technology in innovative ways, and programs that AT&T employees
are actively involved with as contributors and/or volunteers. AT&T has
donated more than $7 million toward environmental programs since 1996.
