Learn How Organisations are Preparing for the UK's First Mandatory Carbon Trading Scheme
Green Power Conferences announces the Carbon Reduction Commitment Summit, taking place June 1-2 at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London
(CSRwire) LONDON - October 13, 2008 - Around 5,000 organisations operating in the UK
will soon be participating in the country's first mandatory carbon trading
scheme: The Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC). The CRC targets emissions
from large non-energy intensive business and public sector organisations
from a variety of sectors. This is the qualifying year for CRC
participating with the first phase of the scheme to commence in 2010.
2009 will be a critical year for organisations to prepare and budget for
CRC compliance. With that in mind, Green Power Conferences is pleased to
announce its second annual Defra-supported event: The Carbon Reduction
Commitment Summit. The Summit, which includes an Energy Efficiency
Exhibition, will take place June 1-2, 2009 at The Queen Elizabeth 11
Conference Centre in London.
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Summit is designed to help those managing
CRC compliance define their new carbon management strategy, delegate
responsibilities internally, budget for CRC participation and identify
cost-savings solutions. By providing case studies from Defra experts,
energy providers and CRC participants, this event will offer practical
advice on CRC compliance and the latest updates on energy efficiency and
carbon management strategies.
With a financial and reputational price on carbon now imminent, it is
important for organisations to ensure they are properly prepared for the
CRC. Scheme participants will need management’s approval for purchasing
CRC allowances so it is important to review your carbon reduction plans
today. Through presentations and expert panels, this event will offer the
best practical advice on how organisations can achieve CRC compliance
efficiently and economically.
