Felix Rey Partners with Carbonfund.org to go CarbonFree

(CSRwire) New York, NY, June 26, 2008 - Felix Rey announced today that it is offsetting its carbon emissions with Carbonfund.org, one of the country's leading carbon offset organizations. This commitment establishes Felix Rey as an environmental leader in the fashion community and demonstrates the proactive steps Felix Rey is taking in the fight against global climate change.

Felix Rey is a handbag and accessories company based in New York, New York. It was founded by Lily Rafii Band and Sulaika Zarrouk in 2001. While the company started as a line of handbags and belts, the collection has expanded to include umbrellas, cosmetic bags, diaper bags, hats and scarves. Felix Rey is distributed globally via notable retailers such as Henri Bendel, Nordstrom, SaksFifthAvenue.com and Saks Dubai, NeimanMarcus.com, Barneys Japan, Mitsukoshi Japan, Harvey Nichols in Dubai and Hong Kong.

Felix Rey joined Carbonfund.org to eliminate its carbon footprint and to help end the global climate crisis. Because shipping is an integral part of the business, Felix Rey wanted to address the carbon footprint created by its sea and air freight shipments. "Carbonfund.org has allowed us to calculate and offset shipping emissions completely-it feels good to be CarbonFree!" said co-founders Lily Band and Sulaika Zarrouk. "We are excited about our partnership with Carbonfund.org because making our company more environmentally friendly is extremely important to us. Along with the introduction of a reusable cotton tote in our Holiday 2008 collection, Carbonfund.org is helping us offset our emissions and contribute to the fight against global climate change. After all, we only have one planet, so it is our responsibility as individuals to make it a clean, healthy, and happy place for everyone we share it with and for generations to come."

Felix Rey has chosen to support a combination of carbon offset initiatives. However it has contributed more heavily to reforestation projects like the ones in Nicaragua and Louisiana as this contributes to preserving the habitat of many endangered species while also offsetting emissions.

"When shipping is as integral to your operations as it is for Felix Rey, it's important to take responsibility for the full extent of its cost, including carbon emissions," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "That's why our CarbonFree Shipping program is such a perfect fit for Felix Rey. We're very excited to partner with them."
