Goetz Printing Takes an Environmental Leadership Position by Joining Carbonfund.org's CarbonFree Program
(CSRwire) SPRINGFIELD, VA,. - June 12, 2008 - The Goetz Printing Company
announced today that it is offsetting its carbon emissions with
Carbonfund.org, one of the country's leading carbon offset organizations.
Goetz Printing is offsetting 100% of its electrical consumption through a
blend of wind and solar certificates. Goetz neutralized its remaining
carbon emissions footprint [natural gas and transportation] through its
support of reforestation projects based both in the United States and
abroad. This commitment establishes Goetz Printing as an environmental
leader in the print communications community and demonstrates the
proactive steps Goetz is taking in the fight against global climate
change.
Goetz Printing's customers are growing increasingly conscientious of the
effects that their decisions have on the environment. Corporate and
association executives are beginning to weigh price versus the
environmental impact and social cost, causing traditional procurement
policies to be re-examined. Social responsibility is taking center stage
and organizations are challenging themselves and their suppliers to offer
credible, environmentally focused solutions. Organizations are looking for
print partners whose business practices share their common value system,
one that is respectful of the greater community.
"Our partnership with CarbonFund.org exponentially enhances the
environmental initiatives program at Goetz Printing. We are proud to
participate in a program that offers cutting-edge, technologically-based,
sustainable solutions for our shared environment. After all, we too want
our children to have planet Earth left in a condition worthy of
inheriting," said Kevin McKenney, environmental initiatives manager, Goetz
Printing.
"Goetz Printing has a history of being eco-conscious: it's certified by
the Forest Stewardship Council, Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the
Program for the Endorsement of Forestry Certifications," said Eric
Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "Now Goetz Printing is
taking the natural next step of offsetting its carbon footprint. We’re
proud to help it go CarbonFree."
