Global Impact Programs Highlighted as Models for International Disaster Response
Conference Board report cites leadership history, best practices as keys to successful corporate-humanitarian partnerships
(CSRwire) ALEXANDRIA, VA - May 28, 2008 - For its leadership roles in high
profile public-private partnerships, Global Impact is being acknowledged
for its innovation in corporate partnerships in a research report released
this week by the prominent business management research and analysis group
The Conference Board.
The report, titled "Corporate Responses to Humanitarian Disasters: The
Mutual Benefits of Private Humanitarian Cooperation," examines the
steps necessary in cultivating strategic philanthropic alliances in the
wake of global crises, and identifies best practices in management,
communication and capacity building.
Featured in the report is a case study highlighting Global Impact's
stewardship of two critical humanitarian alliances—the Central America
and Mexico Hurricane Relief Fund and the U.S.-Lebanon Partnership
Fund—which merged the organization’s half-century of experience as a
trusted fundraising and administrative partner and its roster of premier
member charities with the resources of corporate partners that included
Cisco Systems, Intel Corporation and PepsiCo.
"These initiatives show how much can be accomplished when companies align
with charities to respond rapidly to humanitarian crises," said Renee
Acosta, Global Impact's president and chief executive officer.
Also outlined are lessons learned that Global Impact believes may be
adapted as a framework for building successful corporate-humanitarian
partnerships long before another disaster strikes. "The pre-assessment of
each member's involvement and the definition of roles are fundamental to
success," Acosta said. Additional best practices include definition of
clear expectations and preparation of an exit strategy for all
partners.
