Passport Health Disaster Response Experts Offer Services to Myanmar Volunteers
(CSRwire) BALTIMORE, Md., May 9 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT: Passport Health, nationwide travel medicine providers and disaster
response experts will prepare anyone traveling to Myanmar to assist with
recovery efforts after Cyclone Nargis. Cholera has broken out in 2 areas
and there is no fresh water or food available. The flood-swollen
waterways that crisscross the Irrawaddy delta are crammed with dead bodies
and animal carcasses. Vaccines for food and water diseases like Hepatitis
A and Typhoid are protective and available. Oral rehydration packets are
available for cholera treatment and Passport Health will donate packets to
all relief workers in need of travel medical services prior to leaving for
disaster response.
In the past Passport Health, on short notice, supplied doctors and nurses
to postal and publishing facilities along the east coast after the Anthrax
attack of 2001. Additionally we prepared relief workers and relatives of
victims of the Tsunami in Indonesia. After hurricane Katrina, Passport
Health nurses were deployed to the Gulf Coast to vaccinate utility and
relief workers. Passport Health nurses also supplied free flu shots to
residents and Emergency Response Teams affected by the recent California
wild fires.
Anyone interested in volunteering to assist cyclone victims should call
our toll free number 1-888-499-7277 for immediate assistance.
