HP, Office Depot, AOL, UPS Among Finalists for Uptime Institute's Green Computing Awards
Keynotes for Institute's April Green Enterprise Computing Symposium Include Sun Microsystems' Mark Monroe, Yahoo’s Christina Page and Microsoft's Mike Manos
(CSRwire) SANTA FE, NM - April 23, 2008 - At its third annual Green Enterprise
Computing Symposium, April 27-30, Orlando, Fla., the Uptime Institute will
announce winners of the first Green Enterprise IT Awards, honoring
organizations that are pioneering energy-efficiency improvements in their
data center operations.
The Uptime Institute is a leading research-based think-tank and corporate
advisory on the business and technology issues related to critical
computing environment reliability and energy efficiency. The Symposium,
which includes the participation of nearly 400 senior executives from data
center owning corporations, design and engineering firms, as well as the
leading IT developers and manufacturers, will focus on establishing
industry benchmarks and standards for improving energy efficiency in data
centers.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the
Symposium, where the winning companies will present case studies and be
featured in a Podcast to be posted at uptimeinstitute.org/podcasts.
A key feature of this year's Symposium is Executive Summit Wednesday, a
one-day event on April 30 that will mark the release of a joint report by
McKinsey & Company and Uptime Institute. McKinsey Associate Principal for
IT William Forrest and the Institute's Brill will present the report,
"Revolutionizing Data Center Energy Efficiency-Key Analyses," which
outlines areas of greatest inefficiencies in data center management and
makes six major corporate IT structural and governance recommendations.
