Entergy Awards $350,000 in Grants to Exemplary Environmental Stewards
(CSRwire) NEW ORLEANS, April 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --- In keeping with the spirit
of Earth Day, Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) today announced the winners
of its 2008 Environmental Stewardship Grant program. This year, Entergy
awarded a grand total of $350,000 to 38 organizations that conveyed a
meaningful commitment to fostering environmental efforts in their
communities.
Now in its ninth year, Entergy's Environmental Stewardship Grant
program is another example of Entergy's environmental commitment to give
back to the communities it serves and to fund projects that help preserve
the earth's environment for future generations. The 2008 grants range from
$2,300 to $25,000 each and mark a 40 percent increase from the $250,000
awarded in 2007.
"The diverse mix of grant applicants this year was truly impressive,"
said Jolecia Marigny, director of environmental services for Entergy.
"Protecting the environment has been, and will continue to be, a great
priority for Entergy. As the grant program continues to grow, so too has
the quality of Earth-friendly applicants."

The environmental stewardship grants follow on the heels of Entergy's
announcement of $50,000 in Keep America Beautiful grants that the company
awarded last month. Environmental grants are part of Entergy's five-year
strategy to expand the company's environmental stewardship focus and
establish the company as a good corporate citizen. This year's crop of
Earth-friendly projects includes environmental education, forest
restoration and eco-tourism.
Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000
megawatts of electric generating capacity, and it is the second-largest
nuclear generator in the United States. Entergy delivers electricity to
2.7 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and
Texas. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $11 billion and
approximately 14,300 employees.
