U.S. Senator Ben Cardin to Kick-Off Green Supply Chain Conference
(CSRwire) BALTIMORE, MD - April 17, 2008 - U.S. Senator Ben Cardin will be the
keynote speaker at a June 3 Greening the Supply Chain conference in
Linthicum, Maryland, co-hosted by the Maryland-Asia Environmental
Partnership (MD-AEP), with the Regional Manufacturing Institute (RMI) and
the Environmental Protection Agency's Green Suppliers Network.
This public-private forum will showcase initiatives that Baxter
International, General Motors, Steelcase and Johnson Controls have made to
green their supply chains. "In terms of public policy, one of the most
important steps businesses can take is to commit to greening the supply
chain," said U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin, a member of the Senate
Environment and Public Works Committee.
Conference attendees will also hear from Peter Gourlay, President of the
MD-AEP on the impact of the global sustainability movement on the business
community, Dr. Mike Galiazzo of RMI on the future of Maryland manufacturing
and a global economic outlook from Anirban Basu, President of the Sage
Policy Group. The event is expected to draw between 200-300 stakeholders
and will be held at the BWI Marriott in Linthicum, Maryland.
