CVS Caremark Charity Classic Golf Tournament Unveils 10th Anniversary Field
Prestigious Tournament Boasts Impressive Roster of World-Class Golfers Including First-Timers Faldo, Weekley, Snedeker, Howell III, Diaz and Castrale
(CSRwire) WOONSOCKET, R.I., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Brad Faxon and Billy Andrade,
PGA TOUR Professionals and co-hosts of the CVS Caremark Charity Classic,
unveiled the field for the tournament's 10th anniversary edition today.
The 2008 CVS Caremark Charity Classic is set for June 22 - 24 at Rhode
Island Country Club and will benefit numerous regional charities.
This year, the CVS Caremark Charity Classic will once again draw its
notable 20-player field from the ranks of the PGA, LPGA and Champions
tours. The announced field represents three countries and includes
legendary golfer and three-time Masters Champion Nick Faldo who will be
making his inaugural appearance.
Additional tournament newcomers include Boo Weekley, Brandt Snedeker
and Charles Howell III. LPGA professionals Laura Diaz and Nicole Castrale
are also new to the tournament in 2008. Weekley is currently 25th on the
FedEx Cup point standings while 2007 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Snedeker
has already posted three top-10 finishes this year. Howell III has
earned four top-25 finishes to date in 2008.
Continuing the tradition of fielding a women's team, Wake Forest
hall-of-famer Diaz, who is currently fifth on the 2008 LPGA Money list,
and Castrale, who sunk the winning putt for the 2007 U.S. Solheim Cup
team, will compete for the 2008 CVS Caremark Charity Classic trophy.
There are three remaining spots in the 2008 field that will be announced
soon.
Champions Return
J.J. Henry and Stewart Cink will return to defend their 2007 title.
Two-time CVS Caremark Charity Classic Champion Nick Price (2001, 2006) will
also compete in the 36-hole team event. Rounding out the roster are
Columbian sensation Camilo Villegas; Bubba Watson, who for two consecutive
seasons has led the TOUR in driving distance (2006, 2007); Champions Tour
Professionals Peter Jacobsen and Dana Quigley; and veteran PGA Tour
Professionals Tim Herron and Brett Quigley.
Tournament week begins with the Pepsi Pro-Am on Sunday, June 22
followed by the two-day tournament Monday, June 23 - Tuesday, June, 24 at
the Rhode Island Country Club. Participants will be competing for a purse
of $1.55 million.

Tickets
Beginning May 11th, tickets for the CVS Caremark Charity Classic will
be available free through a special promotion at CVS/pharmacy stores in
Rhode Island as well as select CVS/pharmacy locations in Massachusetts.
