Green-e Energy Certifies PacifiCorp’s Blue Sky Program
Certification ensures that renewable purchases equal positive environmental impacts
(CSRwire) SAN FRANCISCO, CA - March 12, 2008 - The Center for Resource Solutions
announced today that PacifiCorp's Blue Sky Usage, Blue Sky Habitat, and
Blue Sky Block renewable energy programs are now Green-e Energy Certified.
PacifiCorp, which operates as Pacific Power in California, Oregon and
Washington and as Rocky Mountain Power in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming, joins
the growing network of renewable energy providers that offer products
certified by Green-e Energy, the nation's leading certification and
verification program for renewable energy.
"Green-e Energy is pleased to be part of PacifiCorp's effort to provide
high-quality, certified renewable energy," said Alex Pennock, manager of
Green-e Energy. "The access to renewable energy that this gives customers
all over the West is tremendous."
Blue Sky offers PacifiCorp's commercial, industrial and residential
customers a choice of Green-e Energy Certified energy products. Blue Sky
Block is available to commercial, industrial and residential customers of
both Pacific Power and Rocky Mountain Power in California, Idaho, Oregon,
Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Blue Sky Usage and Habitat also are
available to Pacific Power's Oregon residential and small non-residential
customers. By participating in the Blue Sky program, customers support
currently available renewable resources as well as aid the development of
new renewable resources in the Western region.
"We're proud of our customers' active commitment to renewable energy,"
said Pat Egan, vice president of Customer and Community Services. "In
2007, Blue Sky was named 'Program of the Year' by the Environmental
Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. Green-e Energy
certification is another important designation. Thousands of our customers
already support renewable energy through Blue Sky and we're planning on
that to increase during 2008.'
Green-e Energy is the leading renewable energy certification and
verification program in the United States, with more than 175
participating vendors selling nearly 10 million megawatt-hours of
certified renewable energy in 2006. The program provides independent,
third-party certification to ensure certified renewable energy meets
strict environmental and consumer protection standards.
Providers of Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy agree to abide by
the Green-e Energy Code of Conduct, and meet strict disclosure and
truth-in-advertising requirements. All marketers of Green-e Energy
Certified products undergo an annual verification audit to document that
the company purchased and/or generated enough renewable energy in quantity
and type to meet customer demand and marketing claims.
The Green-e logo, the national symbol for renewable energy excellence,
enables a growing number of consumers to easily identify high quality,
certified renewable energy options, as well as everyday consumer products
that are produced by companies that use renewable energy in their
operations.
