Tetra Pak uses Supply Expo West to Reinforce Its Environmental Positioning
(CSRwire) ANAHEIM, CA - March, 14, 2008 – At this year's Supply Expo West
tradeshow, Tetra Pak U.S. today reinforced its environmental positioning
through the introduction of its company-wide "green" positioning –
Renewability Matters. Long a leader in liquid food packaging,
sustainability has always been at the core of the company's paper-based
carton packaging for liquid food and beverage products and its operations.
This year's tradeshow is a platform for Tetra Pak to showcase its
sustainability story through the introduction of a leading edge
environmental seal and a booth that is 80 percent green.
"Our enhanced commitment to promote the benefits of sustainable packaging
through our Renewability Matters positioning is an outgrowth of years of
experience in utilizing renewable materials in our packages," says Laurens
van de Vijver, vice president of Marketing and Product Management, Tetra
Pak U.S. and Canada. "To us, sustainability is about more than improving
our own environmental footprint; it's about helping our consumer packaged
goods clients adopt products and practices that reduce their own impact on
this planet."
The show is an opportunity for the company to showcase its approach to
managing its own sustainability efforts throughout the lifecycle of its
products, from sourcing raw materials from certified, well-managed forests
to its focus on expanding consumer recycling in the U.S. In addition to a
reduced carbon footprint, Tetra Pak products also offer customers the
benefits of a higher degree of safety and hygiene and improved
preservation of taste and freshness.
Visitors to the Tetra Pak booth at this year’s Supply Expo West will
experience a number of ways the company is positioning its green packaging
story. A new, iconic Renewability seal will be emblazoned on all of its
mockups of carton packages in the booth. Studies conducted by the company
showed that 79 percent of consumers would be more inclined to purchase a
product with the seal, which may be a key selling point for consumer
packaged goods companies trying to take advantage of the green movement.
Tetra Pak has also created a new green design for its Tetra Prisma(R)
Aseptic package that it calls "Carton Tree." The company plans to use this
unique design, which will be on display in its booth, to help tell the
environmental story of the carton package in a visual way.
The company has also invested in the development of an energy-efficient
green trade show booth, which like its carton packages, is made from
renewable and recyclable materials such as bamboo, milk plexi and
aluminum.
While Tetra Pak has long been a proponent of sustainable manufacturing
practices and carton packages, its Renewability Matters positioning will
ensure that it is strategically well-positioned to continue to be a leader
in sustainable business practices and technologies. At the same time, the
company expects the campaign will help its packaged goods customers take
advantage of the growing demand for green, sustainable products and
services.
