For more than a decade, the Finish Line Youth Foundation has asked
customers to help support kids in their community by making a donation to
the Foundation. This year was no different.
From November 8 through December 31, every Finish Line store across
the country and www.finishline.com endeavored to
raise funds to "Help Kids Play." All Finish Line customers who donated
received a coupon booklet with offers totaling $50 in savings on future
purchases.
"We created the Finish Line Youth Foundation to provide kids all
across the country with new and improved opportunities to grow through
sport, recreation and fitness," says Kevin Flynn, President of the
Foundation. "The funds raised this year will allow the Foundation to
support many more deserving organizations around the country who
immediately need our help."
Some of the organizations that received funding from the Finish Line
Youth Foundation in 2007 include: Girls on the Run San Francisco, Denver
SCORES, Camp Quality USA, Northwest Burn Foundation, West Cobb Youth
Athletic Association, Grand Rapids Wheelchair Sports Association, Jock's
of Greater Philadelphia, Camp Courant, Ramapo for Children and the Latin
American Community Center.
Additionally, the Finish Line Youth Foundation recently committed up
to $50,000 in funding to the Indianapolis Parks Foundation for the
renovation of the Windsor Village Park Community/Youth Center. Finish
Line Youth Foundation board members recognized the need to serve the youth
in this particular neighborhood, which is in close proximity to Finish
Line's corporate headquarters. Funds were given to build a new outdoor
basketball court (in partnership with the Pacers Foundation, Inc.), and to
build the new indoor fitness center. Groundbreaking for the renovation
project was December 2007 and is scheduled to be completed fall 2008.
