Fifty Top Speakers Confirmed to Present at Sustainable Manufacturing Summit
(CSRwire) CHICAGO - January 14, 2008, -- On April 8-9, Chicago will be host to an
unprecedented gathering of top companies who will share their carbon
reduction and sustainability strategies at Corporate Climate Response –
Sustainable Manufacturing Summit.
Fifty top speakers are now confirmed to present at this event including
sustainability experts from GE, Dell, HP, Philips, Honeywell, Subaru,
Johnson Controls, Kimberly-Clark, Cadbury Schweppes, Sharp, Caterpillar,
Frito Lay, GM, and General Mills. Jim Rogers, CEO and Chairman of Duke
Energy, will open the summit by discussing how manufacturers can cut
carbon emissions while continuing to grow their businesses.
"The great innovations in society typically come from our big corporations
- so when they engage on climate change like this, it is very exciting,"
says Paul Dickinson, CEO of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), who is
presenting at the summit. "When companies apply their technical, marketing
and their logistical capacities to solutions it is stimulating. GE's
Ecomagination is one of the best examples of this."
Jeff Renaud, Director of GE's Ecomagination, is presenting a case study on
the company's success in manufacturing and marketing sustainable
technologies. He will be joined by representatives from Honeywell and
Philips who will also be discussing the latest developments in low-carbon
products.
With sessions focusing on climate-friendly product development,
operational response, sustainable supply chains, and waste management, the
Sustainable Manufacturing Summit covers carbon reduction at every stage of
the manufacturing process.
"I am particularly interested in the sessions on Carbon Management Leaders
and Carbon Labeling and Product Lifecycle Analysis," says Elissa Loughman,
Environmental Analyst at Patagonia, who is presenting at the event.
"We are looking at ways to enhance our program by what others have already
done," adds Bruce Bremer, Facility Engineering Manager at Toyota, who is
speaking as well. "We also believe it is important to share our ideas and
activities with others. We are all trying to accomplish the same thing and
that is to reduce our energy cost and improve the environment. It is much
easier to do this as a group than it is as individual companies."
The summit fills an unmet need in the marketplace for companies to meet
and share best practices on building carbon reduction into the
manufacturing process. Attendees will include corporate directors of
sustainability, environmental management, energy, corporate social
responsibility, product development, and supply chain management.
Early sign-up is encouraged as the last Corporate Climate Response event
sold out with over 250 sustainability professionals in attendance.
