2007 State of Corporate Citizenship Survey to be Focus of Webinar December 18

Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship and The Hitachi Foundation to present results of biennial survey

(CSRwire) CHESTNUT HILL – December 11, 2007 — The results of the 2007 State of Corporate Citizenship in the U.S. will be released during a webinar on December 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. (ET). All participants must register in advance.

Every two years the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship surveys a cross-section of U.S. executives on issues related to the role of business in society. The research is funded by The Hitachi Foundation, a leading advocate for promoting the positive role companies can play in society, particularly in low-income communities.

2007 survey results show significant management support for corporate citizenship but reveal gaps between the attitudes and actions of corporate executives and disparities between public expectations and business practices. The survey of 751 executives reveals that 79% attribute the public distrust of business to excessive CEO pay. Of the executives participating to the on-line survey, 53% were CEOs, 34% held vice president positions, 10% were directors and 3% held other senior level positions.

Webinars are live, internet broadcasts featuring new research and information from experts on a specific topic. Participants can submit questions in advance, and Q&A follows each presentation. The 90 minute presentation will feature:

  • Barbara Dyer, President and CEO, The Hitachi Foundation

  • Bradley K. Googins, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship

  • Vesela Veleva, Sc.D., Research Manager, Boston College Center for Corporate citizenship

The survey, conducted for Boston College by GlobeScan, is the only research of its kind that provides a comprehensive overview of small, medium and large-sized U.S. business. This webinar will present an overview of the survey's findings and look at their implications for business.

Some preliminary findings of the survey can be found on the blog www.corporatecitizen07.com.
